In its youth, Château Coutet’s 2011 shows great complexity revealing a superb range of concentrated aromas. Floral notes of heather and honeysuckle combine with fresh fruits, such as quince, white peach, mango, pineapple, orange and lime zest, and dried fruits. This vibrant bouquet is completed with the estate’s signature mineral (flint) characteristic. The palate is then enveloped by honey and spicy notes.
The wine’s rare elegance is the result of a beautiful balance between a rich nectar and a vivid acidity. Lively and lush, it already offers remarkable freshness and power. Its racy depth and length make the 2011 vintage a wine with great potential.

Château Coutet’s 2010 vintage offers a beautiful concentration of aromas with notes of dried mango and apricots, as well as peach glaze, honey and citrus marmalade. These flavors are then followed by touches of orange blossom and fig.
The wine shows a great complexity; it is rich and dense while at the same time offering an impressive freshness. It has a superb balance between the power of sweetness and its minerality. The finish is full, powerful and persistent. This is a wine that is already starting to express itself, however time will only enhance its aromatic palette. The first tasting impresses upon us an intense expression of the wine, its depth and its complexity, with fresh and exotic flavors, lots of citrus, quince and apricot. The sensation of coolness is enhanced by the brightness of the fruit. The sweetness is present with hints of roundness and opulence.

The miracle vintage, 1983 is the result of a terrible spring with late bud development and a hot, humid summer. The harvest took place from September 23rd to November 18th. Ideal climatic conditions were experienced in 1981. The summer began as mediocre then evolved into hot and dry weather. The harvest took place from October 5th to November 11th. Fully developed, hints of fruits and flowers make for a well-balanced wine.

A hot and sunny April was followed by typical rains. However, two rainy periods and a drop in temperatures during the growing season affected the maturity of the grapes. The harvest took place from October 12th to November 24th. A light color, the nose is lightly scented and pleasant while the wine is fresh and crisp on the palate.

This particular vintage started off with budding observed early (March 25th). Fully flowering and the change of grape colors also occurred early (June 6th and July 15th respectfully.) June was hot and dry, while July was marked by heat waves and the end of August with rains. The harvest took place from September 18th to October 17th. The wine is of a lively golden color. A spicy nose with hints of citrus, flowers and ripe apricots is experienced. The palate is rewarded with rich and succulent flavors, with plenty of freshness and minerality. A great Coutet!

A pale color, the wine is still young with a discreet nose but lively on the palate. A very pure wine, this vintage is very enjoyable to drink today.

Blooming was delayed with a cold April, but without any frost. A very hot June helped the vegetation catch-up. July was mixed with sun and rain, while August was dry and hot. A few strong rains occurred in September however beautiful weather was experienced during the totality of the harvest (October 1st to November 4th). The wine displays a yellow color with amber hues. Its nose is still young and fruity. The palate experiences an elegant, well-balanced, and harmonious wine.

On September 24th and 25th, strong rains accelerated the development of Noble Rot in the vineyard that required a team of 150 harvesters. These conditions contributed to the making of a great Sauternes. The harvest took places from September 20th to November 2nd. The wine is of a dark yellow amber color. Its well-developed nose is rich and complex, an experience that is shared by the palate.

A splendid October allowed for a wonderful harvest that took place from September 28th and October 30th. The wine is dark amber and very aromatic. Overall, 1943 was a very hot year. On the eve of the harvest, the region was hit with a hail storm. As a result, a first sorting was required to eliminate the damaged berries. Ideal weather was experienced for the rest of the harvest (September 22nd and October 25th). The wine is of a rich amber color. Rich, intense, yet youthful, the palate is full of honey and candied fruits: a harmonious and elegant wine.

The wine has an attractive amber color with golden highlights. Aromas of nuts and dried fruit, almond and apricot leap out on the nose, then quince, followed by honey after airing. A rich attack on honey and apricot is followed by a drier mid-palate. Like all older Barsac wines, the wine’s sweetness is less obvious but considerable vitality remains. Sweetness returns on the finish with a rich smoothness that pairs well with red fruits. This is an excellent wine - from a little - known vintage that has aged commendably and still has the capacity to surprise.
