Anyone fond of orange candy will find it hard to resist Château Coutet 2023. Supported by bright acidity and finely judged botrytis character, the sweetness seems to lose its weight, turning into a marshmallow gently suspended overhead. On first contact, the texture is rich and nectar-like, like a drop of floral honey slowly falling through the morning light; yet as it melts effortlessly on the palate, the innate lightness and elegance of Barsac are revealed with striking clarity. Soft murmurs of dried apricot, yellow plum jam, white truffle, and powdered cinnamon gradually merge into a golden glow, finally drawing to a close with a subtle, gently bitter finish that leaves behind a delicate halo of afterlight.
